At the Fifty-third Annual Sessions of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, 2024, which the annual awards of the institute are presented the spotlight was on the brightest young minds in chemistry as they were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the Chemistry Olympiad Sri Lanka (COSL). This prestigious event, held at the Marino Mall alongside the Frontiers in Chemical Technology International Conference, marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of these exceptional students.
The COSL competition, a highly anticipated event in the academic calendar, is designed to identify and nurture the most talented young chemists in Sri Lanka. It fosters problem-solving skills and encourages a deep understanding of chemistry among schoolchildren. Each year, it attracts the best and brightest students from across the country, all vying for the coveted titles of National Chemistry Olympiad Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists.
The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon takes immense pride in nurturing such talent and remains committed to fostering a culture of excellence in chemistry. The recognition of these young chemists at the Annual Sessions underscores the importance of supporting and encouraging the next generation of scientists, who will undoubtedly shape the future of chemistry in Sri Lanka and beyond.
National level Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal winners (Nesith Lakvindu Lokukarawita Hettiarachchi, Robolge Pahanma Upani Lenora, Uragoda Appuhamilage Githma Himakara, Palihawadana Ralalage Sithupa Danithu Nethmina Palihawadana, Januki Vihasna Cooray, W.A. Akila Chamodya Bandara, Vajra Neth Wijesooriya, Sreemaathuri Sinthanaichselvan, Palihawadana Arachchige Kenul Luthmin Perera, and, Srikaran Menan) were recognized at the Annual Sessions of the ICHEMC. Also, the best four students were selected to represent Sri Lanka at the International Chemistry Olympiad which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 21st to 30th July 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
